Dr. Dawn Armstrong is a Medical Oncologist based at Eastern Health in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and a Clinical Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland. She is also the Assistant Program Director for the Medical Oncology Training Program at Memorial University.

Education and Training

Dr. Armstrong received her Bachelor of Science with Honours from Dalhousie University, followed by a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Memorial University in 2009. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Memorial University in 2012, before pursuing a Medical Oncology Residency at the University of Alberta, which she completed in 2014.

Career

Dr. Armstrong is involved in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with a variety of cancers, including gastrointestinal, neurological, cutaneous, and unknown primary malignancies. She works within the Cancer Care Program at Eastern Health, where she primarily treats patients in an outpatient setting, but also manages inpatient cases. Dr. Armstrong is actively involved in clinical trials testing new therapies and contributes to the education and mentorship of medical students and residents at Memorial University.

Research Interests

Dr. Armstrong has a strong research interest in social inequities and their impact on health outcomes. She has participated in several clinical trials and has authored peer-reviewed publications, contributing to the advancement of oncology treatment protocols and patient care.
