ST. JOHN’S, NL – February 15, 2025 – The Heather Cutler Foundation is proud to announce its first-ever in-person advocacy event, the #WeAreCanadaToo Street Campaign, set to take place in downtown St. John’s this March. Over three days, the foundation’s volunteers will engage directly with the public to promote Petition E-5186, which recently surpassed 200 signatures and remains open for signing until April 3, 2024. The petition calls for national pancreatic cancer care guidelines, including somatic and genetic testing at diagnosis and improved access to clinical trials for people in Newfoundland and Labrador and all smaller provinces of Canada.
Event Details
The #WeAreCanadaToo Street Campaign will bring pancreatic cancer advocacy to the streets of Water and Duckworth in downtown St. John’s, where volunteers will:
✔ Raise awareness about Petition E-5186, which has now surpassed 200 signatures, and encourage more Canadians to sign before the April 3 deadline.
✔ Provide information on biomarker testing and clinical trial accessibility in smaller provinces like Newfoundland and Labrador.
✔ Offer on-the-spot petition signing, with tablets available for immediate participation.
✔ Distribute brochures outlining key healthcare gaps and advocacy efforts.
✔ Engage with individuals and families affected by pancreatic cancer, collecting stories and feedback to strengthen future initiatives.
A special events permit application has been submitted to the City of St. John’s, and the foundation will announce finalized event details and opportunities to participate in the coming weeks.

With Petition E-5186 surpassing 200 signatures, the foundation is urging Canadians to sign before the April 3 deadline. Supporters can help push for improved pancreatic cancer care across Canada by adding their names to the petition and spreading awareness.
