Volunteer, Remote
We are looking for a Grant Writer to join Team Heather and secure the essential funding needed to advance our advocacy, awareness, and patient support initiatives. In this role, you will be instrumental in researching funding opportunities, crafting compelling proposals, and collaborating closely with our team to expand our outreach, especially in underserved provinces. Through your work, you will help mobilize public support, advocate for critical healthcare reforms, and ultimately bring life-saving resources to pancreatic cancer patients and their families across Canada.
Why Join Us?
Our approach is clear: we’re here to act, not wait. Team Heather was born from Heather’s journey through Canada’s healthcare system, which exposed its flaws and inequities—particularly in smaller provinces. We go beyond summarizing data; we validate facts through direct conversations with researchers, policy influencers, and industry leaders, ensuring accuracy and accountability. As our Grant Writer, you’ll play an integral role in advocating for real, lasting change that Canadians with pancreatic cancer urgently deserve.

• Storytelling Ability: Ability to make issues personal and compelling, connecting funders to our foundation’s story and the people behind it.
• Persistence and Proactivity: Enthusiasm for building relationships with funders through strategic outreach, follow-ups, and tracking communication efforts.
• Healthcare Familiarity: Knowledge of the healthcare field, or a willingness to learn about pancreatic cancer and related challenges to deepen connection to the mission.
Company Description
The Heather Cutler Foundation is a non-profit organization redefining pancreatic cancer advocacy across Canada.
Founded in memory of Heather Cutler, a registered nurse, our foundation is here to confront the healthcare gaps, stand by patients, and drive real change—especially for those in underserved regions.
We’re sounding the alarm on barriers that keep Canada’s survival rates stagnant and, more urgently, compromise the outcomes of Canadians in smaller provinces.
From promoting the life-saving potential of molecular profiling to pushing for clinical trials beyond Canada’s ‘urban’ hubs, we are fighting for a future where every Canadian has access to the most advanced treatments, the chance to join a clinical trial no matter their postal code, and a transparent, accountable drug approval process.
