Mount Pearl, NL — June 24, 2025 — The Heather Cutler Foundation proudly announces that Petition e-6492, calling on the Canadian government to make pancreatic cancer a national priority, has reached the landmark 500 signatures needed to guarantee an official government response. This marks a historic achievement, with e-6492 becoming the first pancreatic cancer-focused e-petition in Canadian history to secure a formal response from Parliament.

This success builds on the Foundation’s earlier groundbreaking effort, Petition e-5186, launched in 2024. Petition e-5186 was Canada’s very first e-petition addressing pancreatic cancer but was unfortunately cut short by the dissolution of Parliament. Undeterred, The Heather Cutler Foundation continued its advocacy, swiftly mobilizing support for e-6492.

“This means so much to me and to everyone touched by pancreatic cancer. After losing my mom, Heather, to this disease, we promised ourselves her story would push change in Canada. The response to this petition—especially in just the last couple of days—shows we’re not alone in wanting better for people facing pancreatic cancer. I’m deeply grateful to every single person who signed and shared. This moment proves our voices matter, and I know Heather would be so proud.”

— Christopher Cutler, Founder, The Heather Cutler Foundation

Petition e-6492 calls for establishing guidelines on standard of care, federal funding commitments, action on stalled treatments such as Onivyde, and expanded clinical trial infrastructure across Canada.

The Heather Cutler Foundation extends its heartfelt thanks to every individual who signed, shared, and supported this urgent call for change.
