Biography

Peter Burry, a beloved resident of St. John’s, formerly of Greenspond, passed away suddenly but peacefully on March 9, 2024, at the age of 92. A dedicated and longtime employee of the Children’s Rehabilitation Centre, Peter touched countless lives with his compassion and commitment to helping others.

Predeceased by his brothers Frank and Sam, and sisters Neta Woodland and Margaret Giles, Peter leaves behind a family filled with love and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, Jennie, their children Keith (Linda), Dave (Sharon), and Heather Cutler (Barry); six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Peter also leaves behind his sister Barbara Granter of Pool’s Island, his brother-in-law Jim Brewer of St. John’s, and a wide circle of extended family and friends.

Peter’s legacy is one of love, service, and family. His daughter, Heather Cutler, who carried his compassionate spirit, passed away after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. In her memory, the Heather Cutler Foundation was established to advocate for pancreatic cancer research, provide patient support, and advance clinical trial awareness.
